PARACELSUS BATHS and KURHAUS IN THE CITY OF SALZBURG
The construction task assigned to architects Berger+Parkkinen was a rare one. And the solution was remarkable in terms of both the architecture and the use of materials. The spa and adjoining Kurhaus are located close to the centre of the City of Salzburg and are excellently situated in terms of urban development in relation to the surrounding buildings and landscape. The sophisticated aluminium facade protects the building against curious onlookers, but also ensures transparency and light. This generous architectural gesture is accompanied by very subtle and precise use of aluminium down to the last detail. In the scope of this project, our AGRU Oberflächentechnik coated approx. 2920 m² (Schüco profiles and sheet) in RAL 7048 matt (29/70326) and approx. 1360 m² in RAL 9005 glossy (29/80020). Additionally, ceiling profiles were coated in RAL 9003 glossy (29/11260) (3,300 m²). The timeline was a special challenge in this project. The surface finishing technicians needed to receive, coat and deliver large quantities of material to the customer in a short space of time.
BTV BANK AND COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN DORNBIRN ENRICHES THE SURROUNDING AREA
The second prize-winning building was designed by architect Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Köberl. He succeeded in finding a totally coherent solution for a frequently recurring construction task. The project blends in very unobtrusively with its surroundings in terms of urban planning; it is neatly integrated into the existing urban fabric and features exemplary architecture. The two buildings create a traffic-calmed space in a difficult inner-city space, setting urban accents and enriching the surroundings. The bank branch and office building have different shapes and reference each other in a subtle way. The use of metal is an excellent choice and appropriate for the building task: The bright aluminium louvres and lean aluminium profiles convey lightness and solidity at the same time. AGRU only anodised a small section of 60 m² for this project, but to the highest quality standards. The task was special pickling of profiles in E6/C35 followed by black anodising. The Aluminium Architecture Prizes for 2020 was awarded in 2021 due to the pandemic.
